Any society that makes education more expensive than ignorant is doomed. Education is the bedrock of any developing nation. In Nigeria education is not only expensive but the standard is diminishing on a daily bases.
However, there should be huge resources in terms of fund and human. The various stakeholders in education should be included when drafting educational curriculum among which should include teachers from nursery to the tertiary institutions.
Also, courses that were not relevant to the course of study of the students should be removed. The recent merging of subjects in the secondary school now should be revisited. Topics in these relevant subjects could not be covered.
The two examination bodies WAEC and NECO should at least use secondary teachers strictly for marking and setting marking scheme.
On examination malpractices Government should sanction any school involved. A fine of 500,000 and a ban of 4yrs will denitely if not stop will reduce the menance.
Gradually, the use of computer will go a long way in providing succour to the educational sector….
